Book class

Join us over 4 weeks and learn how to screen print in a variety of ways. This class is designed to take you through some of the different techniques of screen printing. You will learn the different types of printing and how they can be used to produce different effects.

Upcoming dates:

  • July 1, 8, 15, 22, 6:30pm — 9:30pm
  • September 9, 16, 23, 30, 6:30pm — 9:30pm

We will cover up to 4 different techniques, showing you how to execute them yourself and the different artistic stylings they offer.

Week 1:
stencil making. A great quick way of creating designs and layers and making prints. This technique is simple and quicjk and a god way of introducing personality into designs. Doing this can work (relatively) quickly, so can try lots of things out.

Week 2:
Screen printing using printed stencils. Here we will expose printed designs on to the photo sensitive screens. Printing this way give us more robust designs to work with and also introduces the possibility of using computer generated graphics, with the detail and accuracy that allows.

Week 3:
We will do mark making on acetates and then expose these on to photosensitive screens. This give us the ability to use hand drawn techniques and materials, and unlocks the possibility for much more personalised artwork.

Week 4:
Either work on a project of your choice, or print using an adapted photograph, to screen print a two colour separation of a photograph. With preparation we can set-up a photograph, so that we can do a screen printed replica of it. This allows for incredible detail, and also design choice, of colouring.

By the end of this course, you will be comfortable using all sorts of studio equipment and you will have an understanding of how different techniques can be used to create different types of artwork. The course will be producing work on high quality paper, and the techniques you learn can then be used on other materials or surfaces.

You will have access to the studio equipment and resources, and be directed along the way each week by Steven of Print Paradiso. After completing this course, students would be comfortable working in a screen printing studio, unmonitored, so could carry on their practice.
